Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences growing in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the party enter places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.
Fans can expect learning which characters will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
